SOTG 196 - Pope Attacks Gun Makers

SOTG 196 – Pope Attacks Gun Makers

Surprise, the current left leaning pontiff has come out publicly against firearms and arms makers. Il Papa stated that being a Christian and investing in firearms making are contradictory. Though disturbing this is not a shock given the current record of the Catholic Church boss.

Patriots in Washington State are fed up and they are not taking it anymore. An Arms Expo is planned for this weekend in Yakima. Jarrad introduce the SOTG/Fight U Thunderdome Challenge. And, lastly, we have an example of people stepping up to help an injured person as opposed to standing around with their phones.

Pope Francis insinuated over the weekend that weapons manufacturers and those who invest in the weapons industry are hypocrites if they call themselves Christians.

“It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons,” he said at a youth rally in Turin, Italy, according to Reuters. “That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?”

As for those who invest in the weapons industry, Pope Francis had equally tough words: “Duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.”

The pontiff’s comments about those who benefit and profit from the weapons industry were widely seen as the toughest to date, Reuters reported.

Pope Francis spoke during the same address about the failure of world powers to stop the Nazis during the Holocaust, asking why bombs weren’t used to halt transports to concentration camps.

“The great powers had photographs of the railway routes that the trains took to the concentration camps, like Auschwitz, to kill the Jews, and also the Christians, and also the Roma, also the homosexuals,” Pope Francis said, according to the Independent. ”Tell me, why didn’t they bomb [those railroads]?”

As TheBlaze previously reported, these remarks follow the pontiff’s comments about climate change, which place the bulk of the blame on human activity.

TAMPICO, WA-  Even though Washington State passed a law expanding background checks on those trying to buy and sell guns, there’s some organizations who aren’t accepting the regulations within I-594. We spoke with some organizers who are hosting a gun expo and don’t plan to comply with the gun law.

A group called “Liberty for All”, is hosting an arms expo, where you can buy and sell guns freely.

They told us this afternoon it’s important for them to have this event, even though it’s against the law.

“Well, the importance of having an event like this is really about enforcing the constitution. The Washington state constitution says the right to bear arms shall not be impaired and impaired means to diminish and to reduce in any way. And we view 594, the passage of that and the result of Washington code as an impairment of the right to keeping bear arms. In the fact that it impairs our ability to buy and sell fire arms.” Said Sam Wilson of Liberty for All.

For a small fee, you can camp on site for the whole weekend at the Yakima arms expo. In addition to live music, food, and seminars, there’s a few speakers scheduled to appear. One of those speakers told us, they’re not going to comply with I-594

“We’ve always been forbearing in this. They passed a law and we backed up. Grudgingly, but we backed up. What we’re saying here today is, we’re done backing up, deal with it!” Says Mike Vanderboegh.

As controversial as this topic may be, Sam Wilson wants the skeptics to know that this event isn’t meant to be taken as a threat.

“Really, the one thing we’ve stressed all along is that this is peaceful. This is not any kind of threat or violence. This is a peaceful exercise of constitutional rights”

The arms expo is all day today and all day tomorrow and we were told that they’re expecting a big turnout.

A witness told NBC News on Monday that it was “like a scene out of ‘Jaws'” when a shark attacked a girl swimming in waist-deep water off the North Carolina coast — one of two attacks in quick succession that cost children their arms.

Steve Bouser was on the beach at Oak Island when a shark attacked a 12-year-old girl. He described watching someone carry the girl out of the ocean, then a crowd rushing to help her. One woman yelled for people to make a tourniquet.

“Everybody was screaming, ‘Get out of the water!'” he said.

The girl was “obviously going into shock,” he said. He recalled people asking, “Can you hear me?” “She would respond not very enthusiastically, but you could tell she was still conscious,” he said.

Hospital officials said the girl’s left arm was amputated below the elbow and her lower left leg had tissue damage. In the other attack, also at Oak Island, a 16-year-old boy’s left arm was severed below the shoulder.

‘Her Entire Hand Is Gone!’ 911 Callers Report Shark Attacks 0:45
The attacks happened less than an hour and a half apart. Both victims were in waist-deep water, about 20 yards offshore, authorities said Monday.

Dispatch recordings from 911 captured the horror: “It looks like her entire hand is gone,” a woman said after the shark attacked the girl. After the attack on the boy, a caller said: “It bit a man’s arm off!”

The injuries were described as life-threatening, but authorities said both victims were out of surgery and in stable condition on Monday at a hospital in Wilmington. The boy’s condition was upgraded to good.

The girl’s family has asked that her name and condition not be released.

Authorities announced no plans to close the beach.

They said it was still unclear whether one or two sharks were responsible.

Authorities credited bystanders with helping save two lives. “Without them, we would have had a different outcome,” said Brian Watts, the emergency services director for Brunswick County.

The boy was visiting the beach from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Authorities did not release his name, but the hospital released a statement from his mother in which she thanked “the people who saved him through their quick actions on the beach,” emergency workers and hospital staff.

“He’s in good shape,” said Dr. Borden Hooks III, who performed surgeries on both patients at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. “To some degree, he’s awake and talking to us. He and his family will have to deal with this together.”

Daniel Abel, a marine biologist at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and a shark expert, said the same shark probably attacked both swimmers.

“The probability that it’s two different sharks is vanishingly low,” he told NBC News by phone. “But, you know, I could be wrong. These are solitary animals. They are not schooling together. It could be one animal that was in the same place people were.

For centuries direct pressure, stitches, and cauterization were the only tools we had to stop significant bleeding. A little company in Brooklyn hopes that its mix of two polymers will become, in effect, the Band-Aid of the future. Its plant-based product is called Vetigel, and what is most remarkable about the goopy substance is that it appears to imitate the structure of the living tissue on which it’s placed. In other words, it won’t just keep the blood in—it will help heal the wound too, by accelerating the binding of fibrin, a protein that acts like scaffolding during coagulation, with platelets in the blood. Even better, Vetigel doesn’t demand the special preparation and storage required for other flowable hemostats on the market. Suneris, the four-year-old company that makes the stuff, is working to get it into the hands of veterinarians this year. Further down the line, pending FDA approval: nurses, doctors, the military, first responders, even parents. “The military model is taking a traumatic wound to the femoral artery, which usually takes about five minutes to stop,” says Joseph Landolina, the company’s co-founder. “With our gel, we’ve been able to stop it in less than 20 seconds.
