Paul G. Markel has worn many hats during his lifetime. He has been a U.S. Marine, Police Officer, Professional Bodyguard, and Small Arms and Tactics Instructor.
Mr. Markel has been writing professionally for law enforcement and firearms periodicals for nearly twenty years with hundreds and hundreds of articles in print.
Paul is a regular guest on nationally syndicated radio talk shows and subject matter expert in firearms training and use of force.
Mr. Markel has been teaching safe and effective firearms handling to students young and old for decades and has worked actively with the 4-H Shooting Sports program.
Paul holds numerous instructor certifications in multiple disciplines and a Bachelor’s degree in conflict resolution; nonetheless, he is and will remain a dedicated Student of the Gun.

Hi guys, great show and I’m an avid student. I’m also a detective and I heard you say that professional LE tell pleebs to not fight back. Not true for all of us. I tell victims pleebs that home intruders are nothing more than inter-active splatter targets. Pretty sure the human debris breaking into your house at 2am is not trying to return a misappropriated Easter egg. As an example, I left for work one morning and while my wife was showering some adventurous do-nuthing entered or home through the back door. My dog alerted, barked, growled and ran back to the bedroom shower to protect my wife. My wife, a police officer, exited the shower with a Colt 1911 45 cocked and ready to rock. Said intruder must have heard the all to familiar 1911 rack and ran from the house. Nothing more beautiful than coming home to a beautiful naked woman holding a racked 1911, a towel and a smile. The only thing that could have been better was a coroner in my driveway, just sayin.
