SOTG 284 - Tribune Concerned about Concealed Carry

While the results have been predominantly positive, the Chicago Tribune is still concerned that shootings involving concealed carry enthusiasts are becoming more prevalent in Illinois. Despite numerous justifiable uses of deadly force by licensed gun carriers the Trib is bothered by the trend.

Be sure to tune in for the SWAT Fuel Fitness talk. Jarrad will give you details about his professional boxing debut. He will tell you something else you can do with protective glove, besides wear it on your hand. Also, the bodies from the Paris terror attack are not even all buried and France is waving the proverbial white flag in the name of being “humanitarian”.

FRANCE, November 19, 2015– On Wednesday, French President Francois Hollande announced that France would still accept upwards of 30,000 Syrian refugees over the next two years despite the recent ISIS terror attacks on Paris that left at least 129 dead.

“30,000 refugees will be welcomed over the next two years. Our country has the duty to respect this commitment,” said Hollande.

Receiving a standing ovation, Hollande made the announcement while meeting with mayors from across France.

“We have to reinforce our borders while remaining true to our values,” said Hollande as he noted that it was France’s “humanitarian duty” to honor their commitments to refugees.

Meanwhile, the majority of American governors have called upon the federal government to not place Syrian refugees in the respective states.

While President Obama has made attempts to paint the refusal of accepting refugees as a partisan issue driven by Republicans, a handful of states controlled by democratic state legislators and governors have also demanded that no refugees be placed within their states including Massachusetts and Maryland, which are considered the most democratic states in America.

“As governor of Maryland, the safety and security of Marylanders remains my first priority,” said Maryland’s Democrat Governor Larry Hogan. “Following the terrorist attacks on Paris just four days ago, and after careful consideration, I am now requesting that federal authorities cease any additional settlements of refugees from Syria in Maryland until the U.S. government can provide appropriate assurances that refugees from Syria pose no threat to public safety.”

As of Tuesday, more than two dozen governors issued statements saying that they would not be accepting refugees. Meanwhile, another half dozen say they will, but not without increased vetting.

The move by these governors has created a constitutional crisis of sorts. Many, including President Obama, say that states have no say in the matter. Meanwhile, others disagree and believe the issue may make its way to the Supreme Court.

From www.change.org:

On the morning of 7th January 2015 Terrorists attacked Charlie Hebdo, with fully automatic, unregistered and illegal firearms.

Since then the EU has been preparing new legislation to ban semi-automatic firearms in the hands of law abiding EU citizens. Despite the fact that these weapons were not used by terrorists and are not even typically used by criminals.

They use unregistred, untraceble black market full auto Kalashnikovs.

The new legislation has been on the back burner since April 2015, only to surface now on 18th of November, barely 5 days after a second attack in Paris.

The victims of this tragedy have not been buried yet, the criminals are still on the loose and the police has not even finished the investigation and yet the EU is announcing measures to prevent something like that from happening again.

Unfortunately nothing in the draft would have prevented these 2 attacks since neither were done with weapons that are now legal and would be banned with this new law. Nothing.

It is not logical and above all it is extremely unfair.
It is unfair to the victims, it is unfair to the law abiding citizens who’s hobby and property will be taken away.
Say NO to the draft proposal announced on 18 November 2015
Do not restrict semi-automatic firearms ‘because they look like an automatic firearm’
We the Citizens demand that the EU brings focus on the real problems:
– That the external borders of the EU are not protected.
– Our population has groups in it that refuse to allign with our democratic core values and our culture.
– Illegal arms trade is rampant within the EU.
– Criminals and terrorists have easier access to illegal weapons then legal gun owners have access to legal arms.

That is the current situation and this new legislation does NOTHING to adress those problems.
The 18 November IP-15-6110 draft to amend 91/477/EEC is not only populistic in nature, it is also an insult to our civil liberties and to the intelligence of the EU citizens as a whole.
