Legal analysts ripped Baltimore prosecutors Monday over their handling of the Freddie Gray case, saying the prosecution should drop all charges against the three remaining police officers or risk more embarrassment in the courtroom.

What’s more, John Banzhaf, an activist law professor at George Washington University, said he would file a complaint Tuesday with the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission calling for the disbarment of the lead prosecutors in the trials of the six police officers accused of wrongdoing in the 2015 arrest and death of the 25-year-old black man.

The pointed criticism came Monday after Lt. Brian Rice was acquitted of all charges for his role in Gray’s arrest and death. The lieutenant was the highest-ranking of the accused officers, and his full acquittal was the third consecutive loss for prosecutors. Another trial ended in a hung jury in December, and a retrial has been scheduled.

But legal analysts said any subsequent trials should be canceled. They noted prosecutors’ failure to convict the most senior officer involved in Gray’s arrest (Lt. Rice) and the driver of the police van in which Gray’s neck was broken (Officer Caesar Goodson).

“It’s quite clear that the prosecution should not continue on,” said Barry Slotnick, a prominent defense lawyer who has followed the trials in the Gray case. “The prosecution in the next three cases should strongly make a suggestion in court — on the record — that these cases have not been proven and will not be proven and therefore they should be dismissed.”

From www.baltimoresun.com:

An activist law professor calling for Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby to be disbarred over her prosecution of six Baltimore police officers in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray has now taken aim at the two deputy state’s attorneys who have argued the cases in court.

John F. Banzhaf III, a public interest law professor at George Washington University known for filing lawsuits in high-profile court cases, said he filed two new complaints with the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission on Tuesday, calling for the disbarment of Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Michael Schatzow and Deputy State’s Attorney Janice Bledsoe. He filed a similar complaint last month calling on the commission to disbar Mosby.

Banzhaf said the new complaints are based in part on Circuit Judge Barry G. Williams’ acquittal Monday of a third officer, Lt. Brian Rice, of all charges in the case. Banzhaf also noted that Williams previously acquitted two other officers in the case, Edward Nero and Caesar Goodson Jr.

A fourth officer, William Porter, had a mistrial in December. Porter is set to be retried in September, and two other officers, Officer Garrett Miller and Sgt. Alicia White, are to be tried later this month and in October, respectively. All have pleaded not guilty.

Gray, 25, suffered severe spinal cord injuries in the back of a police transport van in April 2015 and died a week later. His death sparked widespread peaceful protests against police brutality in Baltimore, and his funeral was followed by rioting, looting and arson.

Mosby filed charges against the six officers in May 2015.

Mosby’s office has said it is barred from commenting on complaints with the Attorney Grievance Commission because of a gag order imposed in the Gray case by Williams.

“The State’s Attorney will continue to respect the judge’s orders as our office has consistently done throughout these trials,” the office said after Banzhaf’s complaint against Mosby last month.

Banzhaf alleges that Mosby knew the charges against the officers were not supported by probable cause when she filed them, and should have reassessed her prosecution of the officers after each of Williams’ rulings in the case. Banzhaf also points out multiple discovery violations in the officers’ trials, in which prosecutors failed to turn over evidence in a timely manner.

In his complaint against Schatzow, Banzhaf argues Mosby’s involvement in overseeing the cases “cannot and does not excuse [Schatzow’s] conduct since each and every attorney is bound by the same rules of conduct.”

He said an argument from Schatzow that he was “just following orders” from Mosby would provide “no defense in a disbarment proceeding.”

In his complaint against Bledsoe, Banzhaf argues that as “a very high ranking official, and as one of the two prosecutors primarily responsible for presenting these several cases in court, [Bledsoe] has not only the ethical duty, but also the power, to object and at the very least refuse to participate.”

The Attorney Grievance Commission does not comment on pending complaints.

In his rulings in the Gray cases, Williams has repeatedly found prosecutors presented little or no evidence to support the charges alleged. But he has allowed each of the trials to date to proceed, suggesting prosecutors had met the minimal burden of proof needed to have their cases heard in court.

From abcnews.go.com:

A Baltimore judge acquitted Lieutenant Brian Rice of all charges today for his involvement in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray in April 2015.

Rice was the highest ranking of the six police officers charged in the high-profile case by Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. Prosecutors have yet to secure a conviction.

Rice, 42, was cleared of charges including involuntary manslaughter, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment. He elected a bench trial, and Circuit Judge Barry Williams decided his fate instead of a jury.

Two other officers were previously acquitted in relation to Gray’s death — Edward Nero and Caesar Goodson Jr. Another officer, William Porter, had a mistrial last year after a jury could not reach a consensus on the charges brought against him.

Prosecutors charged that Rice showed reckless disregard for Gray when he failed to secure him with a seat belt after he helped load Gray into the police van. Gray died of injuries that he sustained while in police custody seven days after he was apprehended.

All of the officers involved in the case have pleaded not guilty. Williams previously acquitted Officers Edward Nero and Caesar Goodson Jr. of all charges. The case against Officer William Porter ended in a mistrial in December. He is scheduled to be retried in September. Officer Garrett Miller will go before a judge on July 27, and Sgt. Alicia White’s proceeding begins Oct. 13.

Prosecutors failed to prove in court that Rice acted in a grossly negligent manner and was aware of the risks to Gray but disregarded them, and in addition, they failed to prove reckless endangerment, that he was aware of the risks and acted unreasonably.

Also, they were unable to prove the lieutenant corruptly failed to carry out an act required of him. Prosecutors attempted to home in on Rice’s training during the trial, saying that he should have known the consequences of failing to secure a shackled prisoner with a seatbelt, and that he intentionally disregarded the consequences.

Williams had previously dropped an assault charge against Rice, citing lack of evidence, and also dismissed one count of misconduct on the first day of the trial.

The verdict comes at a time of increasing frustrations throughout the country over recent police shootings that left Alton Sterling and Philando Castile dead.

The Baltimore Police Commissioner announced new precautions effective today that will take place today around the city, calling for all officers to patrol in teams of two, plus, there is a rule that two cars are required to respond to calls until further notice.

“The safety of our police officers is paramount to their families, our community, and me,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said. “Our capacity to serve relies on our commitment to keep our police officers safe as they protect our community.”

On Sunday, three police officers were killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The shooter was killed but the motive is still unknown. This follows the shooting death of five Dallas police officers last week.

In Baltimore, 65 people taking part in a march against police use of force were arrested over the weekend after they blocked part of Interstate 83, police said. Of the 65 arrested, 10 were juveniles. Those arrested were charged with failure to obey and illegally walking on a highway.

While blocking Interstate 83, protesters chanted “hands up, don’t shoot.” One participant carried a “Black Lives Matter” sign, while another wore a shirt that read “I am Freddie Gray.”

March organizers said they were rallying to create a civilian review board for police investigations. They also want to reallocate 10 percent of the city’s police budget for community programs.

In a verbal exchange filmed by Rebel Pundit, the man explains to CNN he is at the RNC to show his support for Republican nominee Donald Trump.

“I’ve been out here making sure I express my support for Mr. Donald J. Trump, and I’m fighting back against people like Black Lives Matter which CNN supports, along with the Hillary Clinton foundation and the Bill Clinton foundation. They’re traitors to this country!”

Attempting to accuse Trump of racism, the CNN reporter follows up with, “What do you think about the fact that white supremacists support Trump?”

“It doesn’t matter,” the black man replies. “That’s the right to free speech. I’m sick of this race and divide – and CNN is perfect at doing that. It’s always divide and conquer. People have the right to choose whatever they want. What the hell does that have to do with Donald Trump?”

“He’s not a racist. I’m sick of that. It’s a scam and I know it’s not going to get on CNN! We’re sick of you media!”
The CNN reporter is next struck speechless when approached by Hispanic and white Trump supporters who questioned what the reporter was implying.

“What do you think about what he just said to you – that it’s maybe not a fair question if you’re just trying to associate Trump with racism?” Rebel Pundit’s cameraman asks the CNN reporter.

“I’m just here doing my job,” the reporter replies. “I’m just asking questions.”

The black supporter goes on to explain that the media is creating the perception that Trump is racist, even though he’s not.
“Trump is not a racist, and again it’s the media who gives us those perceptions. You see because the Democratic party they always control the black people – it’s a plantation. As long as they’re on the mammary gland of America sucking – getting their food stamps, getting their welfare, and they’re not dreaming for the stars. And society is killing that dream. They’re killing that dream by this globalism. The hell with globalism, because globalism takes away America’s wealth.”

From www.idahostatejournal.com:

An Idaho State University student has been arrested for a brutal aggravated assault in which he allegedly tried to force himself on a young woman and threatened to stab her with scissors.

Ahmad Hamoud Aldawish, 24, of Saudi Arabia, was arrested by police at about 6 a.m. Thursday on Sam Nixon Drive on the ISU campus. The victim is a female ISU student.

Authorities said Aldawish was essentially trying to force himself on the young woman and she resisted. He’s facing up to five years in prison if convicted.

The victim is an ISU freshman and a Century High School graduate.

Police and ISU have released few details on the alleged assault. But one of the victim’s close family members provided the Journal with the victim’s account of what happened.

The victim agreed to meet Aldawish at his campus apartment Wednesday night, but once she arrived things quickly took a turn for the worse, the family member said.

The victim suffered bruises over much of her body and a bloody lip as a result of Aldawish “punching” and “shoving” her, the family member said.

During the alleged assault, Aldawish took the victim’s purse away from her. This kept her from dialing 911 because her cellphone was in the purse.

The victim said Aldawish threw her down onto his bed and ripped her shirt off, according to the family member. Aldawish then held scissors to the victim’s throat and threatened to stab her, the family member said.

Aldawish eventually let the woman leave his apartment, and that’s when she contacted Pocatello police. Officers responded and arrested Aldawish on Thursday morning.

The victim was reportedly not raped during the incident, but she was terrified and cannot discuss what happened without breaking into tears, the family member said.

ISU released the following statement about the incident: “Idaho State University is assisting the Pocatello Police Department in their investigation of a reported assault in an apartment unit on the ISU campus. A suspect was immediately taken into custody following the complaint, and victim resources, including counseling, were provided on the scene. All inquiries about the incident will be referred to the Pocatello Police Department. The ISU Student Conduct Code has more information about what constitutes a violation and possible sanctions if a student is found responsible. Due to federal privacy laws, the university, however, cannot talk about any actions, pending or contemplated, against a specific student who has been taken into custody. The troubling nature of this incident is not reflective of ISU’s values. As an institution, we work hard to create and maintain an environment that is safe for all of our students. We take claims of misconduct and criminal misbehavior very seriously and fully investigate all reported allegations.”

Aldawish is being held at the Bannock County jail.

From www.breitbart.com:

President Barack Obama’s top legal appointee in Idaho is threatening to prosecute Americans who criticize the federal immigration policies which enabled Sudanese and Iraqi Muslim migrants to perpetrate a vile sexual attack against a five-year-old girl in Twin Falls, Idaho.

A 14-year-old Sudanese refugee in Idaho coached a 10-year-old Sudanese and a 7-year-old Iraqi boy during the June 2 attack on the girl. The younger boys stripped the white five-year-old girl naked, touched her, and urinated on her clothes and in her mouth, while the older boy also took pictures. Their primitive abuse of the child might have continued, had it not been stopped by an elderly American who saw the older boy taking pictures at the laundry room where the boys had cornered the little girl.

Since then, locals have begun to furiously criticize the federal program that is sending migrants into their formerly peaceful city.

To reduce local protests, Obama appointee and U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson issued her scolding and threatening statement on Friday;

“The United States Attorney’s Office extends its support to the five-year-old victim of assault, and her family, at the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls. The United States Attorney’s Office further encourages community members in Twin Falls and throughout Idaho to remain calm and supportive, to pay close attention to the facts that have been released by law enforcement and the prosecuting attorney, and to avoid spreading false rumors and inaccuracies.”

Olson openly threatened to suppress Americans’ speech if they talked about the Third World Muslims imported into their neighborhoods;

Grant Loebs is an experienced prosecutor, and Chief Craig Kingsbury is an experienced law enforcement officer. They are moving fairly and thoughtfully in this case. As Mr. Loebs and Chief Kingsbury informed the public, the subjects in this case are juveniles, ages 14, 10 and 7. The criminal justice system, whether at the state or federal level, requires that juveniles be afforded a specific process with significant restrictions on the information that can be released. The fact that the subjects are juveniles in no way lessens the harm to or impact on the victim and her family. The spread of false information or inflammatory or threatening statements about the perpetrators or the crime itself reduces public safety and may violate federal law. We have seen time and again that the spread of falsehoods about refugees divides our communities. I urge all citizens and residents to allow Mr. Loebs and Chief Kingsbury and their teams to do their jobs. (Emphasis added.)

How the Obama administration plans to prosecute and punish private citizens who debate federal immigration policy or the crime is not clear.

Olson’s statement echoes Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s December 2015 pronouncement to take “aggressive action” against Americans who criticize Muslims with speech that supposedly “edges towards violence.” That threat was made just one day after two Muslims in San Bernardino slaughtered 14 Americans and wounded another 22.

Lynch fretted about “the incredibly disturbing rise of anti-Muslim rhetoric” at a Muslim Advocates dinner, telling them “that fear is my greatest fear.”

She backtracked after sparking a national uproar.

The child sex attackers have been released from an Idaho detention center back into the arms of their smiling families, but have been evicted from their apartments. The landlord called the crime “truly horrific” but that attack and following events “have focused our collective attention on the complexities of living in a culturally diverse society.”

After the Idaho attack was revealed, officials minimized any explanations to the worried public. That clampdown causing some locals to speculate that Syrian refugees perpetrated the attack. Also, initial reports that refugees gang-raped the victim at knifepoint proved not to be true, but Muslim advocacy groups in the U.S. and the refugee-supporters in the establishment press used the debunking of those initial rumors to downplay the girl’s suffering at the hands of her foreign attackers under the rug.

The refugee resettlement industry is very secretive because very few Americans want poor, unskilled and culturally antagonistic migrants to settle in their communities. For example, one Vermont-based refugee manager urged supporters in 2015 that “I cannot emphasize enough the importance of not sharing the information” with the public.

From www.dailymail.co.uk:

A Syrian refugee wielding a machete has killed a pregnant woman and injured a man and another woman in Germany before being arrested by police after he was run over by a man driving a BMW.

The attack happened in the south western city of Reutlingen near a doner kebab stand in a bus station at Listplatz Square in what has been described as a ‘crime of passion’.
German media have been reporting that the motive for the attack in the city south of Stuttgart was unclear but the attacker and the 45-year-old Polish victim both worked at the same snack bar.

Pictures from the scene appear to show the knifeman lying on the ground with blood on his face after being apprehended.

Armed police officers can be seen pinning him down to the ground before binding his hands behind his back.

Meanwhile, footage filmed by passers-by also showed the bearded attacker in the moments following the rampage running around in the street while people scream ‘oh my god’.

He also banged on the windows of a Citroen car in which a 51-year-old woman suffered cuts to her arms and a 41-year-old man went into shock.

The attacker also injured a 23-year-old man by slashing his face.

It is believed a man passing the incident in a BMW car ran over the man, knocking him to the ground, before he was detained by police.

German media reported that the killing took place outside a restaurant where the woman worked as a cleaner. The driver, who was named as Alper K, 21, is thought to be the son of the restaurant owner.
Paramedics attempted to save the woman’s life after she sustained head injuries but she died and her corpse was covered with a white sheet.

One eyewitness told German newspaper Bild: ‘The perpetrator was completely out of his mind. He ran with his machete even behind a patrol car.’

Police spokesman Bjoern Reusch said in a statement that witnesses said the 21-year-old man, who was known to police, was having an argument with the woman, who is believed to have been working at the kebab stand, before attacking her about 4:30 pm.

They also added that the incident ‘did not bear the hallmarks of a terrorist attack.’

‘According to the information available, the perpetrator acted alone, the people of Reutlingen and its surroundings are very probably not in danger,’ the statement added.

The asylum-seeking Syrian man had been involved in previous incidents causing injuries to other people, police said.

The spokesman had no immediate information on when the man arrived in Germany, or when the previous incidents took place.

He was injured in the collision with the BMW and is currently in hospital, where he has not yet been questioned but is under guard by police.

The attack comes as Germany is on edge, following a rampage at a Munich mall on Friday night in which nine people were killed, and an axe attack on a train a week ago that left five wounded.

Some Germans are also fearful of any signs of a rise in crime or lawlessness after the country registered some one million asylum-seekers last year.
